The objective of the CHARNIÈRES research centre is to publish, analyse, interpret and promote texts and cultural practices that have emerged from the Enlightenment to the present day, by linking periods, genres and practices.

Since 2013, CINESTHEA has focused on film (and the related visual arts, such as video arts), theatre and performing arts (choreography, movement arts, circus arts in particular, without excluding any performing art), all areas of contemporary creation without neglecting the diachronic dimension of the approaches.

Created in 1991 under the name É.CRI.RE (Study of the Crisis of Representation), the team brings together language, French and Francophone literature and comparative literature specialists.
